Camping Recipe: Campfire Granola

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of rolled oats
  • 2 cups of pecans or almonds
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • ½ to 1 cup of maple syrup
  • 1 cup of dried cranberries

Instructions:

  1. Place a cast iron skillet over your fire to get it hot.
  2. Add nuts and stir them around to touch them. Remove the skillet from the fire as you do this so you don’t burn the nuts.
  3. When the nuts are fragrant, you can add the rolled oats.
  4. Cook this over the fire until the mixture becomes brown and toasted.
  5. Remove from the fire and add the Vegetable oil and the Maple Syrup. Adjust based on your preferred texture and consistency.
  6. Add the dried Cranberries and eat warm or save them for another snack or meal!
